Metallic Epoxy Floors: From Concept To Finish

Metallic Epoxy Floors: From Concept To Finish

The Resin Lab Training Academy · Exclusive Resin Supply

Coming Soon · Free / $0

Plan striking metallic floors with a disciplined workflow—from concrete assessment and base coats to pattern development, protective finishes, and customer handoff.

Class Overview

A decorative floor starts long before the pigment moves. This proposed class connects design decisions with substrate readiness, system selection, material planning, and a repeatable installation sequence. Explore how samples, lighting, color movement, and finish selection shape the customer’s expectations. Build a clearer understanding of the decisions that influence the appearance of a metallic floor and the preparation that supports it.

The curriculum follows a project from the first design conversation through finishing and handoff. Along the way, review common application concerns, crew coordination, and the points at which a contractor should pause for manufacturer guidance rather than improvise on a customer’s slab.

Who This Class Is For

Coating installers moving into decorative metallic work, experienced crews refining their process, and contractors who want to sell metallic floors with a clearer scope and more realistic expectations.

Learning Outcomes

• Build a project plan that connects design intent, substrate condition, and the selected coating system.

• Explain how preparation, moisture assessment, and base-coat choices influence the finished floor.

• Plan sample development, material quantities, mixing logistics, placement, and pattern work using manufacturer instructions.

• Recognize common appearance and application concerns and identify when technical support is needed.

• Include finish protection, curing restrictions, maintenance information, and customer handoff in the scope.

Proposed Module Outline

Module 1: Design The Floor

Review the space, lighting, intended use, samples, and acceptable variation. Turn a visual concept into a documented finish brief so the customer understands the character of a decorative system.

Module 2: Read And Prepare The Concrete

Assess existing coatings, contamination, repairs, grinding needs, and moisture concerns. Identify the product documentation and testing guidance required before installation.

Module 3: Plan The System And Materials

Map compatible layers, base-coat intent, tools, material quantities, work zones, and crew roles. Review current technical and safety data for the selected products.

Module 4: Develop Metallic Movement

Explore sample-based color placement and pattern development. Discuss working-time awareness, batch consistency, and application sequencing without prescribing universal mixing ratios or techniques.

Module 5: Protect And Deliver The Finish

Plan finish selection, inspection, manufacturer-defined cure and return-to-service requirements, maintenance communication, and customer handoff.

Experience Level & Prerequisites

Foundational To Intermediate. Basic familiarity with resin coatings is helpful. New installers should review Surface Preparation & Grinding first. Bring project questions and be prepared to follow the selected manufacturer’s technical and safety documentation.

What To Expect

The proposed format combines focused explanations, sample and project reviews, guided discussion, and structured planning exercises. Demonstrations or practical activities will depend on the final class format and safety arrangements. Bring a notebook, questions, and relevant project examples. Materials, equipment, duration, venue, and practical-work requirements will be confirmed before registration opens.

Coming Soon. No dates or enrollment are available yet. For product-specific mixing, application, compatibility, coverage, moisture criteria, curing, and protective equipment, use current manufacturer technical and safety documentation.

Reservations will open when sessions are scheduled.
